Terra Classic Validator

The below instructions would help in technical commands to setup Terra Classic Validator. The intended audience of these steps is anyone who is willing to contribute to the chain by becoming a validator.

The validator must have the below hardware specs to support the chain.

a) 4 Cores

b) 32 GB Memory

c) 2 TB Storage (NVMe SSD)

Every Validator is also mandated to provide Oracle Price Feeder service as well. It can be installed on the same Validator node or on a separate node.

Installation Steps

1. Update OS

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -ysudo apt install build-essential

2. Install Go

wget https://go.dev/dl/go1.19.2.linux-amd64.tar.gztar xvfz go1.19.2.linux-amd64.tar.gzsudo cp -r go /usr/local/export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/go/bin/go version
vi .profileexport PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/go/bin

3. Get Terra Code (from classic-terra)

git clone https://github.com/classic-terra/core.gitcd coregit checkout v1.0.5make install
cd /home/<user>vim .profile export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/go/bin:~/go/bin/
NOTE: Logout and log back in for the profile to reload.

4. Setup as Service

cd /etc/systemd/systemsudo touch terrad.servicesudo vim terrad.service
[Unit]Description=Terra DaemonAfter=network.target
[Service]Type=simpleUser=<user>ExecStart=/home/<user>/go/bin/terrad start Restart=on-abort
[Install]WantedBy=multi-user.target
[Service]LimitNOFILE=65535

5. Update nofile

sudo vim /etc/security/limits.confAdd the below lines* soft nofile 65535* hard nofile 65535

6. Initialize

/home/<user>/go/bin/terrad init TargetNodes --chain-id columbus-5

7. Update GAS

cd /home/<user>/.terra/configvi app.tomlminimum-gas-prices = "0.15uluna"

8. Enable LCD API

cd /home/<user>/.terra/configvi app.toml
################################################################################## API Configuration ##################################################################################[api]enable = true

9. Pruning Config

cd /home/<user>/.terra/configvi app.toml
pruning = "custom" pruning-keep-recent = "1000" pruning-keep-every = "0" pruning-interval = "100"

10 .Download Genesis File (Don’t Use)

cd /home/<user>/.terra/configwget https://columbus-genesis.s3.ap-northeast-1.amazonaws.com/columbus-5-genesis.json
NOTE: Don’t need Genesis File if syncing from State Sync.

11. State Sync From Snapshot (Use this)

cd /home/<user>/.terrawget https://dl2.quicksync.io/columbus-5-pruned.20221026.0410.tar.lz4
NOTE: Use latest pruned one from https://quicksync.io/networks/terra.html
Install Utility to unzip:sudo apt-get install wget liblz4-tool -y
cd /home/<user>/.terralz4 -d {SNAPSHOT_FILE} | tar xf -
NOTE: Delete the snapshot downloaded file and download Address Book.lz4 -d columbus-5-pruned.20221028.0410.tar.lz4 | tar xf -

12. Download Address File

Get the latest from one of the peer Validators and place at -
/home/<user>/.terra/config/addressbook.json
From Terra Rebels:cd /home/<user>/.terra/configwget https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1013464023586582528/1032548810808885268/addrbook.json
Now you can start terra node.

13. Start terrad

sudo systemctl enable terradsudo systemctl daemon-reloadsystemctl start terrad && journalctl -u terrad -f -o cat

14. Create a Key

To Create A New Wallet:/home/<user>/go/bin/terrad keys add TargetNodes
To Add Existing Wallet:/home/<user>/go/bin/terrad keys add TargetNodes --recover

15. Create Validator

terrad tx staking create-validator \--pubkey $(terrad tendermint show-validator) \--amount "2uluna" \--from TargetNodes \--commission-rate="0.01" \--commission-max-rate="0.20" \--commission-max-change-rate="0.01" \--min-self-delegation "1" \--moniker "TargetNodes" \--details="A non-custodial platform to delegate your Crypto." \--website="https://www.targetnodes.com" \--chain-id "columbus-5" \--gas "auto" \--gas-prices "5.665uluna" \--gas-adjustment 1.2 \--node tcp://127.0.0.1:26657
